Starship Troopers: Extermination is now live on PS5, offering fans of Helldivers 2 and other PvE multiplayer games a larger-scale, first-person cooperative bug-killing alternative. In addition to a hype-inducing trailer, developer Offworld has revealed a development roadmap outlining what players can look forward to in the coming days and weeks.
Exiting Early Access and released into 1.0 (thanks, PC Gamer), Extermination is quite a different beast to Helldivers 2, which remains the most straightforward comparison and has more of an old-school PC flavour to it. Companies of up to 16 exceptionally fragile troopers (with six classes to choose from) work together to achieve objectives across a community-led campaign. There is a strong emphasis on base-building and defence, with the mounds of dead bugs remaining persistent, creating dynamic obstacles for friends and foes alike to navigate.
Offworld plans to spend the rest of the year optimising performance and squashing bugs. Early 2025 will see new perks added, five new levels for each class, and an underslung shotgun attachment for the Morita assault rifle. The bugs are also getting new "bug holes", so watch out for that.

Looks good I will have to check it out
I'll stick with helldivers 2, think we're about to get a new faction maybe announcement in the next couple weeks
With the bizarre fact that to even be able to purchase it on the UK PSN store, unless it changed in the last day, you need to;
.....yeah, no, maybe a bit down the line, but they'll need to re-inspire some confidence first, a messy first impression before they've even sold the product is a bit much. Especially with Helldivers there to scratch that itch and a very busy month filled to the brim with very polished games.
EDIT: Well as a quick test, no, it has not changed since launch. Nothing in the release listings, and a search on either the console or app will still display "Starship Troopers: Extermination - Announced" as the only result. It really is baffling that they managed to release a game that you would be almost certain hasn't released if you hadn't read/heard about it elsewhere.
These games don’t last. I mean I own Helldivers 2 and after a few weeks it was boring and repetitive
@Bobtheking oh no, I only got a few weeks of fun out of my new multiplayer game. xD
@Bobtheking all multiplayer games are repetitive, that's one of the big characteristics of those games, actually you could argue that all videogames are repetitive because they are designed to work around predefined gameplay.
If they are or aren't "boring" after a while is on you and how well you connect with the game not on the game itself lol.
This game not having a platinum is quite unfortunate. Game looks fun and I love Starship Troopers so I'll get it eventually but what I'm most curious about is how well it sells on xbox. Saw some xbox warriors trying to hype this game to talk trash about Helldivers ... even when Sony is also making money from this game because Starship Troopers media belong to TriStar Pictures lol.
This is basically the game me and my brothers dreamed of growing up watching the film. It is a bit rough around the edges and there is definitely less coordination then HellDivers 2, but it’s great fun. The bug corpses hanging about after being killed is a great feature and when piles of them stack up against a base wall the other enemies can climb up them. Just like the film!
Well they’ve sent this out to die haven’t they?
@Americansamurai1 if this new faction messes with the construction of our shiny new Democracy Space Station, we riot.
@crossbit this has happened before especially with bundled games and upgrades
Is there a standard version going to be released?
Edit: Looks like it was an error on the PlayStation Store and the only version available is the Warrior Bundle.
I prefer Hell Divers 2 bug planet worlds.
Love the movie but I would prefer a single player experience. Also this looks pretty meh
